While the country is working to reduce the rate of illiteracy and increase the rate of schooling, the situation in rural areas is not very encouraging. Few children attend kindergarten, many attend primary school but do not finish it, only a part of them enter secondary school and a good number of them stop in their third year (out of the five planned) and very few have access to professional or academic training. To complete the contribution in the field of education and training, in addition to the training or further training courses for adults that ABBA finances in the global context, an after-school programme (Escuelita) has been integrated, made possible thanks to the participation of about ten retired Nicaraguan teachers from the neighbouring city.

The aim of the after-school program is to improve the school performance of those children and young people who have difficulties at school and who cannot receive support from their parents because they are illiterate.

Since 2018, lessons have been held in the new community centre: finally, adequate space for this activity.
