ABBA - a name with a slogan to help

ABBA is a not-for-profit, private, international organization of cooperation, with headquarters in Corzoneso, Switzerland.

Constituted in 1996 as an association according to Swiss law, thus respecting the requirements of articles 60 and following the civil code.

It is recognized by the Canton of Ticino as a public body and belongs to Fosit (Federation of Non-Governmental Organizations of the Italian part of Switzerland).

Among its goals and objectives, ABBA produces, promotes and supports projects that enable personal growth in the lives of people in difficult life situations; and self-sustaining development in local communities in the Southern Hemisphere. This takes place by responding to concrete needs, involving local communities while respecting cultural roots, and in collaboration with local partners.

All funds arrive intact to the projects that donors have specified. Administrative costs and expenses connected to the association’s activity are covered by membership fees or sponsors.

ABBA’s collaborators work in a volunteer capacity.

ABBA publishes INFO, an informative newsletter sent to members and supporters. It contains news and updates on the projects being financed and various activities of the association. INFO is also available online (Italian only).

ABBA has been active since 1996 in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with projects and programmes in many different sectors:

ABBA is not a project that acts in a void, instead; it situates itself in contexts which can influence its actions and the way in which things are realized.
